Award-winning saxophonist Andy Sheppard has established himself as one of the most charismatic and innovative musicians on the international jazz scene. A prolific live and recording career as leader combines with a reputation for landmark collaborations that has seen him work with leading musicians from throughout the world- from worldbeat DJs to Brazilian percussionist Nana Vasconcelos and seminal American jazz composers Carla Bley and George Russell.
His current band plays the music from his latest recording for Provocateur, Dancing Man and Woman……characteristically fresh ideas within territory familiar to Sheppard aficionados- evocative melodies and irresistible grooves inspired by music from India, Latin America and Africa, with solo statements that are muscular and compellingly lyrical by turns. The band featuring the brilliant tabla player Kuljit Bhamra alongside the stellar group of players that worked closely with him in recent years- Steve Lodder (keyboards), John Parricelli (guitar), Chris Laurence (bass) and Paul Clarvis (percussion).
