Named after the simian hero of 'Planet of the Apes', Cornelius (aka Keigo Oyamada) was propelled in to being by the rapid growth of his own Trattoria label, a project that attracted interest from the likes of Blur, UNKLE and the Beastie Boys. Adopting a demonic Spector-type alter ego, Oyamada created the album Fantasma which takes the three minute pop song away down in to the shadowy realms of the experimental underground only to emerge startled and blinking, gloriously mutated with some brilliant produtcion values influenced by some of the most immaculate moments in the history of pop and rock.
