One of Britain's longest serving folk-rock outfits, Oysterband have gradually updated their sound over the years without sacrificing its distinctive personality. Combining punkish attack with athemic hooklines, a rock rhythm section with a profusion of acoustic instruments (such as fiddle, cello, melodeon, harmonica banjo, mandolin and concertina), they continue to command a substantial fan base , encompassing both youngsters attracted by the band's musical kindship with anti-establishment heroes the Levellers, and middle-aged folkies fond of a good old-fashioned rousing tune.
